The IPGC Pattaya Golf Society
Pattaya's first formalised golf group, the Pattaya Golf Society, plays its competition golf three times a week from its clubhouse - Rabbi's Elephant Bar - on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The golf courses we play are designed by some of the greatest names in golf; Laem Chabang by Jack Nicklaus, Great Lakes by Nick Faldo and Sriracha by Gary Player, and this course was used on the inaugural tournament for the Asian PGA tour. For most of the year, the weather is excellent and provides ideal conditions for playing golf. The hottest time of year is between March and May when temperatures on some days can be hotter than the yearly average of 33° Centigrade, most of year though temperatures are around 30° Centigrade or less. Playing in this delightful tropical climate all year round, the caddy lightens the load, and regular stops at the attractive watering holes encourage peak performance on the course. Afterwards the high standard of clubhouse facilities and services complete a memorable round of golf wherever you play. For visitors without clubs or shoes there is no problem as the hire of top brands of golf clubs are available for around 600 baht. At every course you will be welcomed by friendly and courteous staff to remind you that you are in the Land of Smiles, and the Golf Paradise of Thailand. Set out below are links to the courses. When you arrive at the course your own caddy-for-the-day will be there to meet you, take care of your bag and personally take care of you as you make your way around the course, advising you of hazards, distances and lies on the green. You will blink in amazement at some of the clubhouses which are more like five-star hotels with their opulence, and they house comfortable and high standard locker-rooms and restaurants serving fine Thai and European food. Golf carts are usually available at most courses and are compuslory at showpiece courses such as Laem Chabang, Burapha and St. Andrews 2000.
After your round share a chilled beer with your partners before adjourning to Rabbi's for the eagerly awaited awards presentation. You have just had the best day of your stay! And all for less than 2000 baht.
Leaving Rabbi's at 9am, competitions are arranged every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday. Casual golf can be arranged every day. PGS Golfers are encouraged to join the International Pattaya Golf Club, a member club which has negotiated fine discounts for green fees for our competitions. Currently IPGC membership at Rabbi's exceeds six hundred. Benefits are properly organised competitive golf, weekly CONGU handicaps maintained and updated, organised transport, specially negotiated green fees, and entry to approximately 60 tournaments a month.
